Our STORY
UNLEASH YOUR VOICE, PUBLISH YOUR DREAMS
Empress Publishing was established by Holly Smee, a Licensed Psychotherapist who transitioned into an Author and Card Deck Creator. After years of helping others find their voice, she embarked on her own publishing journey. Over three years, she delved deeply into the publishing industry, publishing books, journals, colouring books, and decks, before partnering with a 19 times best-selling author and Hollywood Producer and Screenwriter, aligning as their publishing partner.
Her journey unveiled the hidden challenges of vanity presses, the steep costs of hybrid publishing, and the restrictive practices of traditional publishers, discovering a "dark side" to the industry where many authors struggle to have their work published professionally without sacrificing control or royalties.
With a commitment to forging a new path to help others, she founded Empress Publishing in Canada to empower professionals with professional publishing services. Here, authors and creators keep 100% of their proceeds while benefiting from the credibility of a reputable imprint. Empress Publishing offers affordable solutions to bring books or decks life, whether they be self-help guides, workbooks, or card decks.
Today, Empress Publishing aids therapists, artists, entrepreneurs, and creatives in their quest to publish high-quality work that embodies their brand, vision, and voice. We help you make a lasting impact, transforming your knowledge and creativity into professional products that resonate with your audience and elevate your brand—without compromise.
As your Fairy Godmother of all things publishing, I'm here to realize your ideas and help you thrive, ensuring you retain 100% of the profits.
"Becoming an author is not just about putting words on a page; it's about sharing your unique voice with the world and inspiring others through your stories."
Holly Smee, MA
